What animals does the St. Louis Zoo have?

The St. Louis Zoo has a wide variety of animals from all over the world. Some of the animals you can find at the St. Louis Zoo include:

  • Primates: Chimpanzees, gorillas, orangutans, lemurs, and various monkey species.
  • Big Cats: Lions, tigers, cheetahs, leopards, and snow leopards.
  • Elephants: African and Asian elephants.
  • Bears: Grizzly bears and polar bears.
  • Giraffes: Masai giraffes.
  • Hippos and Rhinos: Nile hippos and black rhinos.
  • Penguins: Humboldt penguins.
  • Reptiles: Komodo dragons, alligators, snakes, and turtles.
  • Birds: Flamingos, eagles, owls, and a large variety of exotic bird species.
  • Aquatic Animals: Sea lions, sea otters, fish, and marine life.
  • Invertebrates: Various species of insects, spiders, and other invertebrates.


These are just a few examples, as the St. Louis Zoo houses over 13,000 animals from more than 600 different species.
